Ghana striker Kevin-Prince Boateng is struggling to understand why racism persists in multicultural societies.

The Germany-born suffered racial abuse last year when he was playing for AC Milan during a friendly against fourth division Pro Patria.

He stopped mid-play in the 26th minute, picked up the ball and kicked it into the crowd.

Boateng then tore off his shirt and walked off the field at the opposite end.

"We are a multicultural society with people from all over the world and live in close contact in Germany as in Italy,” Boateng told Sky Sports.

“Still do not understand why there are these episodes of racist statements. How is it possible that this happen again. This is a question that I do not take off from the head. "
