Kevin Prince-Boateng claims injuries forced him to quit Black Stars

AC Milan midfielder Kevin-Prince Boateng has further angered Ghanaians by claiming that the growing number of his injuries is the reason for his decision to quit the Black Stars.

In his first statement since shcoking the entire continent of Africa with his decision to retire, the German-born player says he want to concentrate on the Italian club.

Boateng announced his retirement from international football earlier in November, just 18 months after making his debut for the Black Stars.

The former Germany U21 international switched nationality just before the World Cup in South Africa last year.

His association with the Ghana team hugely boosted his then flagging career as he got the AC Milan deal becasue of his association with Ghana.

boateng retired from the Black Stars last month giving few reasons for his decision when he told the Ghana FA of his decision.

The midfielder has now explained his decision to give up playing for his country and focus on his club career from now on.

"When I was at Borussia Dortmund, I could divide myself (between club and country)," he told Vanity Fair.

"But with AC Milan, between the Italian league, the Champions League and the Coppa Italia, I am no more able to do this.

"My knee has suffered six injuries and six surgeries. It gives me pain on flights due to pressure changes.

"So I have to say good bye to Ghana because I am keen on my health."

The 24-year-old played for Ghanain the 2010 World Cup finals in South Africa, and won nine caps and scored one goal.
