Kevin-Prince Boateng's strange season

Published on: 15 November 2011

Last season Kevin Prince Boateng had been a certainty for AC Milan. Having won a place in the starting line up he had become one of the protagonists of AC Milan’s Â 18th scudetto.

However in this season the Ghanaian has become a real puzzle. Not a problem, because Max Allegri still thinks of him as one of the cornerstones of the team, but a question mark, yes.

In the sense that, from week to week, younever know what Boateng could have (or if he is available).

Boateng began the season on a high with a good game in the Italian Super Cup won against Inter in Beijing.

Then the league began and some of the team including Boateng is unwell). When returned, there was the small incidentwith regard to his alleged early hours.

Allegri good-naturedly pulled him back into line and the player respondedwith a record hat-trick in the comeback victory of AC Milan at Lecce.

The dark period seems to have passed; the former Portsmouth player seems content. But after a few hoursBoateng is back on the roller coaster: from the top down.

In Rome, he gets a red card (the second this season) on the bench: according to the referee Damato, the Rossonero insulted the assistant Maggiani, while Prince claimshe was annoyed with Burdisso.

And to make matters worse he also knocks his fibula putting his presence intomorrow's match with BATE Borisov in the Champions League at risk.

So, a season of swings and roundabouts for Kevin Prince Boateng.

From now on Milan will need him to be moreconsistent, both in attendance on the field and in performance.

Because he is still critical for Allegri.
