Kingsley Sarfo blasts "ungrateful" Malmo FF after horrible incarceration

Olympiakos Nicosia captain Kingsley Sarfo has launched a stinging potshot at Malmo FF, accusing the club of failing to support him following his near two-years incarceration in Sweden.

The 26-year-old was sentenced to 32 months in prison after being found guilty of two cases of statutory rape of an under-aged Ghanaian girl.

The Malmo District Court says the then 23-year old Sarfo, a midfielder with top Swedish club Malmo FF, had sexual intercourse with a 14-year-old girl in an apartment and in a public toilet.

The court  also ordered Sarfo to pay 150,000 kronor ($17,260) in compensation to the girl, adding he should be deported after jail and banned from returning to Sweden for a 10-year period.

However, the Ghanaian was released after one-year and 1o-months on the ground of good conduct following his incarceration over a rape accusation which he vehemently denies.

But he slammed Swedish giants Malmo FF for failing to support him during the most difficult period of his life.

"I was stunned with how the club treated me after I was accused of rape," he told Kumasi based Pure FM.

"Even Zlatan Ibrahimovic who has served the country has issues with them.

"A player of Malmo FF was in the same situation I was but the club stood by him and fought the case to the end but in my case, I was left alone.

"For me, I think they are ungrateful because I never deserve what I went through but the club was unconcerned and even terminated my contract but I thank God I am finally out."

Sarfo had been in prison after he was charged with defilement in Sweden months earlier and all was taken into consideration for his early release.

The midfielder, who took Sweden by storm with his speed and great dribbling ability, was wrongfully convicted over a crime ne never committed.
