Legendary coach Sir Cecil Jones Attuquayefio insists out-of-favour goalkeeper Richard Kingson has a lot on the plate to offer.

The ex-Birmingham shot stopper has lost his place to Norwegian-born Adams Larsen Kwarasey after his high-rated performance was called into questioning.

He was dropped for this month's double header against Sudan and Nigeria due to club inactiveness.

Serbian trainer Goran Stevanovic has maintained the 33-year-old is still part of his plans and would be called up in future matches if he finds a club to keep him active.

Jones, who guided Hearts of Oak to clinch the 2000 Caf Champions League, wants soccer fans to be patient with the former Wigan man.

"Olele is still the best we have, but as a coach, sometimes you may want to build a backup for your team and that may probably be what our coach wants to do," he told the Globe Newspaper

"It is very unfair for Ghanaians to be condemning Olele. I think he will prove himself.

"We always seem to forget so quickly that this man played in two World Cups and each time performed incredibly.

"I don’t know why we are doing this to him, I have known him for many years and I believe he is still the best we have so please let’s be patient with him."

The ex-Liberty Professionals technical director is battling throat cancer.
