Ghana defender Kissi Boateng scored as former African champions TP Mazembe had a comfortable 4-0 win over Mozambique's Liga Muculmana in Lubumbashi on Sunday.

Many Ghanaian players were in action for the DR Congo side in the first leg of their play-off match for the Confederation Cup group stages.

The expensively assembled DR Congolese side took the lead through Ghana international Richard Kissi Boateng in the 16th minute as he headed home a Tresor Mputu Mabi corner.

Then 10 minutes before half-time it was Zambia's Given Singuluma who headed home another corner from Mputu Mabi.

Eight minutes into the second half Tanzania's Mbwana Samatta fired home after a Solomon Asante's shot was only parried.

Another Zambian striker sealed the win as Nathan Sinkala converted an 80th minute penalty after Eric Bokanga hade been fouled.

Return matches are scheduled for the weekend of 31 May-2 June and the six-match group stage kicks off in mid-July.
