Curtis Jones spotted in training
Curtis Jones returned to Liverpool from international duty carrying an injury, sustained with the England U21s in their 1-0 over Andorra. This led Klopp to question his gametime for the Three Lions, saying:
When we talk about federations, Curtis Jones came back from England U-21s injured. Great! It’s hard to get in touch with them. They played Andorra, really important he played there…..”
As per the generally reliable Anfield watch, however, his injury should not keep him sidelined for too much longer, as he was spotted in first team training ahead of their clash with Atletico Madrid.
With current fit midfield options thin on the ground, at just Jordan Henderson, James Milner and Naby Keita, Jones’ return will come as a massive boost to the Reds.
Klopp rules Jones out of Champions League tie
Despite the seemingly positive update on Jones’ recovery from injury, he will not be present in Madrid as Jurgen Klopp’s side take on Diego Simeone’s Atletico Madrid.
Speaking ahead of the clash with La Liga’s current champions, Jurgen Klopp confirmed that Jones will be staying in Liverpool, with his aim to be fit for the tie with Manchester United this weekend.
With Liverpool still light in midfield, Klopp will be hoping to emerge unscathed from what will surely be a fiery encounter at the Wanda Metropolitano this Tuesday.
