Klopp not concenred by Salah

Published on: 21 September 2018

Liverpool head coach Jurgen Klopp says he has no concerns about star striker Mohamed Salah, who has gone three games without a goal in recent weeks.

The 26-year-old Egypt international has scored twice in five Premier League games so far this season, but still questions have been raised about Salah's form, with the former Roma man having netted 32 goals in 36 league appearances last season.

He is still a threat, has fantastic situations and he is in a good shape.

Ahead of a Saturday afternoon visit from Southampton, Klopp told reporters: "Of course everybody expects that (Salah repeating last season's form), that's clear.

"We don't expect that, but it's completely normal that everybody else expects that. It's really no problem.

"At the end of the season we will see how it was, not at the beginning. Was it already like he finished last season, the Premier League season especially?

"No, but he needed time last year, like we all needed time and we will take time this year - that's all.

"On the defensive side, the last two games he was outstanding, perfect. That says everything about him - that he is really ready to work for the team in these moments.

"It is a completely normal situation for an offensive player that they have times when they don't score. But he is still a threat, has fantastic situations and he is in a good shape."

Salah can be backed at 4/9 to score at any time against the Saints, having netted three times in two games against the side from the South Coast last season.

Liverpool, who have won five out of five in the Premier League this season, are 1/5 to make it six victories in a row, while they are 9/4 to be crowned champions come the end of the season.
