Bechem United star Kofi Tompuo has taken a swipe at Hearts of Oak, criticising their approach in Wednesday’s Ghana Premier League clash at the Nana Fosu Gyeabour Park.
Tompuo, who scored the only goal of the match in the 52nd minute, was unimpressed with Hearts’ game plan, suggesting they relied too much on long balls while Bechem United focused on control and creativity.
“Their plan was to hit long balls at every opportunity. We, on the other hand, wanted to possess the ball, be expressive, and fluid. Our midfielders are very comfortable on the ball and can keep possession for long spells,” Tompuo said after the match.
Having previously netted against both Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko at home, Tompuo also praised Bechem United’s winning mentality, especially when playing in front of their fans.
“Hearts of Oak is a big team, and facing them comes with expectations. Everyone watches when you play against them. Our team was determined to win, and once we get into that mood at home, we always win,” he added.
Bechem United continue to be one of the league’s strongest teams this season. They remain unbeaten at home, collecting 29 of their 36 points on their own turf. Their latest victory moves them to fourth on the table, just four points behind league leaders Bibiani Gold Stars.
