Bechem United midfielder Kofi Tompuo has praised his teammates for their composed performance in the team’s 1-0 victory over the Phobians at Nana Fosu Gyeabour Park on Wednesday.
Tompuo, who netted the decisive goal in the 52nd minute, was unimpressed with Hearts of Oak’s approach to the Ghana Premier League Matchweek 20 fixture.
Speaking after the match, he criticized their reliance on long balls, contrasting it with Bechem United’s more controlled style of play.
''Their plan was to hit long balls at every opportunity. Conversely, we came to possess the ball, be expressive and fluid.
"That is because our midfielders are very comfortable with the ball and can retain possession for long spells.''
The playmaker, who has now scored against both Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko at home, emphasized the team’s winning mentality motivation when playing against the two teams.
''Hearts of Oak is a big team and and everyone watches you when you face them, and it comes with expectations too.
"Already, every member of the team was determined to win the match and once we get into that mood at home, we always win.''
Bechem United remains the league’s best-performing home team, collecting 29 of their 36 points at their own ground.
The win moved them to fourth place, four points behind league leaders Bibiani Gold Stars.
