Konadu: Uganda are favourites but we will qualify

Ghana U-20 boss Maxwell Konadu is adamant his side can overturn the 3-1 deficit against Uganda to progress in the African Youth Championship qualifiers.

The Black Satellites were humbled in the first leg encounter played on a soggy pitch at the Nakivubo Stadium on Saturday.

The loss has awaken the team’s critics who insist the signs of doom for the 2009 African and World champions is already being written on the wall.

But Konadu who took charge of the team following the resignation of Orlando Wellington earlier this month is still confident of his team’s progress despite admitting the Ugandans are in pole position after the first leg result.

“Yes, they (Uganda) are in pole position but we can easily turn it around, there is no doubt on my mind,” he told GHANAsoccernet.com.

“It is just like what happened between the Black Meteors (Ghana U-23) and Nigeria some time ago.

“It is almost the same situation. We have done it before and I think we can do it again.”

Ghana will face either Morocco or Gambia in the ultimate qualifier for a place in the finals being hosted in Algeria next year if they are able to get pass Uganda.
