London: Cho So-hyun's 2019 FIFA Women's World Cup build-up will take place considerably closer to France than her native Korea Republic, after the national team skipper's move to West Ham United was confirmed on Sunday.

Cho's transfer seals her first foray into English football, having spent the previous season with Norwegian outfit Avaldsnes IL.

Speaking to the club's official website, the midfield star said she was delighted to have pen to paper.

"I'm very excited to be joining West Ham," she said. "It's always been my ambition to play in England, so this is a very exciting time for me. It's a big league, and to be signing for a big club like West Ham with all the history, it makes it even more special.

"Apart my year in Norway, I have won things at every club, and I hope to continue winning trophies with West Ham."

Cho's move means that two of the Taegeuk Ladies' most recognisable stars are now based in London, where Ji So-yun has turned out for Chelsea since 2014.

The duo is expected to play a key role in Korea's Republic's FIFA World Cup France 2019 campaign, with the East Asian nation set to face the host nation before rounding out their group stage campaign against Nigeria and Norway.
