Kortrijk forward Eric Ocansey is hoping to play against his former side Eupen in the Belgian Pro League on Saturday.

The 24-year-old travel with Eupen to face the Pandas where he began his professional career.

Ocansey played for Eupen for seasons from 2015-2019 before moving in the summer of 2019 to join Kortrijk.

“I only have good memories of my time at Eupen”, Ocansey says.

“I got the chance to become a professional and that was my big dream. I attended the infamous Aspire Academy together with Henry Onyekuru, among others, and I was given the opportunity to develop in the East Cantons. Every season in Eupen has been fantastic. I was very happy there and enjoyed every moment of it. I no longer have contact with Eupen players, because almost everyone has left.”

Ocansey explained why he moved from Eupen to KV Kortrijk in 2019, “I wanted to try my luck elsewhere and I had the best feeling at KV Kortrijk. I wanted to develop my talent further. There were also other options, but Kortrijk was the most concrete.”

The Ghanaian forward has struggled for game time this season and hopes to land a starting role against his former team in Saturday's game.

“That's football. I have to keep working hard and then the opportunities will come. I have to believe in myself, but in the end the coach decides who plays.”
