Kotoko Executive Board Chairman Dr Kofi Kodua Sarpong is confident the club can amass 66 out of the 90 points available to retain their Premier League crown.

The Porcupine Warriors begin their title defense with a home game against newly promoted Amidaus Professionals on Sunday.

The team sent a clear signal to their opponents that they will not relinquish their title on a silver platter after they beat FA Cup holders New Edubiase 2-0 to win the Super Cup last weekend.

The local giants amassed 63 points to clinch their 21st League title  last term and their board chairman is positive they can go the full haul.

“Kotoko has never had matches that could be described as easy because every opponent sees playing against Kotoko as a big platform to display their talent,” Dr Sarpong told Kotoko Express

“Some even go to the extent of undertaking special training sessions. It is also natural that as the defending champions all the remaining clubs will target us and will therefore work hard just to prevent us from successfully defending the league title

“We also will be participating in the African Champions' league as such you also have to be physically fit for the energy challenges you will encounter in both the defense of the league title and Africa".

"I have all this while been speaking to you about unity and  it is because with your quality, the only thing that will defeat our ambitions for the season will be when we allow disunity to set into the team.

He continued: With the kind of unity we have and are still pursuing, it will be extremely difficult for us not to be successful,”

“I want to tell you that you can work at being lucky. Be continuously benevolent and give arms as much as possible.

“Don't wait till you have a big match at hand before you decide to give alms.

"In all things when you are on the field and the going gets tough for you, be motivated and inspired by the Kotoko logo on the chest of your shirts and push higher for success.”
