Board Member of Asante Kotoko Jerry Asare insists acts of hooliganism has no place in football and has suggested harsh punishments for perpetrators.

Asare was reacting to accusations levelled against his club over the highly inappropriate conduct of supporters during the week 7 league clash with rivals Hearts of Oak.

Fans clad in Kotoko colours were captured on video throwing missiles onto the pitch in protest of a referee decision prompting several calls for authorities to launch an investigation into the unfortunate event at the Accra Sports Stadium.

And though Asare was not ready to identify the perpetrators as Kotoko supporters, he is in full support of an investigation to fish out the culprits to face the full rigours of the law.

"Hooliganism has no place in our football so I am in support of an investigation into the incident that happened at the stadium," he told GHANAsoccernet.com.

"The fact that the people throwing missiles were wearing red does not necessarily mean they are Kotoko supporters but I have said it before, if they are found to be our fans they should be held accountable for the acts.

"No Kotoko fan involved in such acts should call me or any official for help, if they see me there (Police Station) then it means I am coming to worsen their case and I believe no other fan should be left off the hook for similar acts."

The Ghana FA is yet to come out with a position on the matter that has generated a debate as to which set of fans were engaged in the shameful acts on November 20.
