Kotoko coach C.K Akunor pleads with Normalisation Comittee to speed up domestic football return

Head coach of Asante Kotoko Charles Kwablah Akunor has pleaded with the Normalisation Committee of Ghana Football to speed up the process of returning the domestic topflight league.

The former Black Stars captain revealed, lack of competitive football has made it difficult to test the competitiveness of the new boys in camp despite playing some friendly games.

The Porcupine Warriors defeated Inter Allies 3-0 on Wednesday but the ex-Ashantigold gaffer believes the strength of his players could have been better tested with competitive football.

"I don't want to go deep into thing but you know, we signed certain players but when then came to us we realised that there is a lot of work to be done and it's not good," he said after the game.

"This is an appeal to the Normalisation Committee to fast track things so that we can have football back because it is even difficult for national coaches," he added.

Asante Kotoko will face Kenyan side Kariobangi Sharks in the 1/16th stage of the CAF Confederations Cup.

The Porcupine Warriors enjoyed a walkover from the preliminary round after the Cameroonian Football Federation failed to present a representative on time.

Meanwhile, Kariobangi Sharks eliminated Arta Solar 7 of Djibouti, after thrashing them 9-1 on aggreagate.
