Kotoko coach calls for calm after opening day draw

Asante Kotoko stand-in coach Henry Wellington insists his team is not panicking despite failing to win their opening Ghana Premier League match.

The champions were unable to get their title defence to a flying start after recording a disappointing 0-0 draw with the newly promoted side at home.

Wellington, who currently acts as the head coach in the absence of substantive Mas-Ud Dramani, says the team will make amends in the second game against AshantiGold.

"We had to change things in the last minute before this game due to injuries and illness to some of our players," Wellington said in a post-match interview.

"This is however not an excuse for our below par performance today.

"We just didn't have a good day but am sure the team will bounce back in the next game (against AshGold)."

Kotoko were without striker Ben Acheampong for Sunday's game.

The Black Stars striker was taken ill with a bout of malaria.
