Kotoko coach Steven Polack urges fans to be positive ahead of MTN FA Cup final

Asante Kotoko Head coach Steven Polack has urged fans to remain positive and patient about the club's goal scoring rate.

The scoring rate of the club has remained a major talking point among many fans especially now that the FA Cup clash with sworn-rivals, Accra Hearts of Oak, is on the horizon.

Steven Polack, however, believes his team works hard enough at training and during games to be able to bury scoring chances. "It's not so much about the lack of chances because we do create a lot," he said in an interview with AsanteKotokosc.com.

"We practice shooting nearly every day and fans who are regular at our training sessions can attest to the quality of our finishing. The goals go in left, right and center."

"Many have questioned the strikers' confidence but it is rather more of their composure. Our players think too much. Only thing on mind when in a good position is to shoot to score," Polack added.

Overall, Polack's team have looked fairly solid at the back to become one of the least conceding teams in the league. Again, this otherwise very impressive feature of the team has raised questions over whether or not Kotoko has been a tad too defensive in their posture but Polack has an explanation.

"It is important that we defend well. We have more chance of winning a game that way." He's however quick to admit that "though a good defense ensures wins, the team cannot entirely rest on its defensive quality to churn out results in every game."

With three weeks left to close the season, Steven Polack believes his team will rise to the next challenges in line.

"We have two games more to go in the league and a cup final as well. We have to find our shooting boots and I'm positive we would to ensure that our target of a top 4 finish with a cup title won't elude us.

Kotoko face Berekum Chelsea tomorrow.
