Maxwell Konadu has called on Premier League referees to emulate the consistency exhibited by S.B Bortey in the game against New Edubiase.

A sending off of Kotoko midfielder Michael Akuffo which was earlier reported as unjust according to the Konadu was the right and courageous call by the referee.

The Kotoko coach is however calling for an across board consistency in the performance of match officials.

“Akuffo deserved the red card for the rash challenge on Wednesday,” he told Accra-based Hot FM.

“The tackle is not the first in football so I have no qualms with the sending off.

“I however will urge that such bold decisions should be made in games across board.

“In our last game against Hearts for instance, there were several similar challenges but the referee unfortunately turned a blind eye.”

The Ghana FA in their bid to improve officiating in the local league constituted the Referee Review Panel which has so far punished several referees for poor performances.
