Asante Kotoko have rubbished rumours that striker Ahmed Toure failed a medical at Egyptian side Al Masry.

The club claim Toure's representatives are reported to be in negotiation with the Egyptian club over his transfer fee.

The 24-year-old was reported to be close to sealing a three-year deal with the Port Said which was valued at U$ 400,000.

A club statement read: "The club would like to state categorically that the speculations are heart-breaking and inimical to the profession and performance of the player.

"In view of the above these are rumours and will remain rumours until the official reports are authenticated upon receipt of the documentation on the medicals from Al Masry of Egypt."

He has since returned home and should be available to face defending champions Berekum Chelsea at home on Wednesday.

The Ivorian import is the club's top scorer after scoring six goals in 10 league matches.
