Asante Kotoko extended their lead on top of the Ghana Premier League after posting a 2-1 win over Bechem United on Sunday.

The champions exacted revenge on the Premier League new boys courtesy a brace from striker Abdul Aziz Yusif at the Baba Yara Stadium.

Kotoko have been winless in the last three matches in Ghanaian top flight and therefore were primed not to disappoint their home fans once more again.

Striker Abdul Aziz Yusif struck in the 32nd minute to hand Mas-Ud Dramani’s side into the lead which they took into recess.

The Porcupine Warriors almost threw away the game when Bobie Ansah conceded a penalty in 62nd minute after fouling Augustine Okrah.

Okrah picked himself up to score from the spot to become the leading goalscorer in the Ghanaian top flight with 11 goals.

The champions however responded instantly with Yusif scoring again.

Kotoko held on despite a spirited attempt from Bechem to claim all three points to go 10 points clear at the top.
