With no Premier League action this weekend, the 1/16h stage of the MTN FA cup will take centre stage with mouth-watering encounters.

Asante Kotoko can now set their attention on winning the double when they play against second-tier Amidaus FC at the Tema stadium on Saturday.

After clinching the top-flight league title with three games to spare, the Porcupine Warriors can cap an incredible season if they lift the cup they lost to Nania FC last season.

Kotoko rivals Hearts of Oak should be the clear favourite when they entertain second division side Elmina Sharks at the Accra Sports stadium.

The FA cup presents the only chance for the Phobians to win silverware this season and will therefore guard against complacency after Dunkwa United gave them a huge scare at the same venue last week.

New Edubiase will welcome struggling Heart of Lions at home in an all Premier League affair with AshantiGold and All Stars battling each other at the Obuasi Len Clay stadium.

Elsewhere, Liberty Professionals will be aiming for revenge when they welcome Tema Youth to the Sly Tetteh Memorial stadium on Monday.

Youth beat the capital-based side 1-0 in the Ghana Premier League last Wednesday to boost their survival chances in the elite division.

But the cup competition will surely provided a different platform for both sides as they eye progression into the quarter-final stage.

But Danbort FC will set the 16th stage rolling with a home game against Sporting Mirren on Friday May 4.
