Asante Kotoko head coach Narteh Ogum has acknowledged the immense pressure that comes with managing a club of Kotoko's stature, stating that the Porcupine Warriors are synonymous with winning.
Ogum expressed confidence that his team will excel by the end of the 2024/25 season, aiming to contend for the titles at stake.
Kotoko had a challenging campaign last season, finishing 12 points behind champions FC Samartex and only five points clear of the relegation zone. This performance prompted a massive squad overhaul, with over 20 players departing and more than 11 new signings brought in to strengthen the squad.
The Porcupine Warriors have shown promise in the new season, securing a 1-0 victory against Karela United in their opening Ghana Premier League match in Nalerigu.
"We should expect this team to do very well by the end of the season, to play well, and win more games," Ogum said.
"Kotoko is known for winning games. And if you coach or play for Kotoko, you know that it’s a task you need to accomplish. You must play well and win games."
Despite the confidence, Ogum stressed the importance of hard work and focus, adding, "We shouldn’t boast; instead, we need to work harder, stay determined, stay focused, and get the job done."
Asante Kotoko will look to continue their strong start to the season when they host Young Apostles on Sunday in match week three of the Ghana Premier League in Obuasi.
