Asante Kotoko have manoeuvred themselves into a positin to sign Rashid Sumaila from Ebusua Dwarfs, reports in the local media have claimed.

The 19-year-old promising centre back wants a move away to seek a new challenge after his expected switch to Morocan champions Moghreb Tetouan collapsed because of his asking price.

Although Hearts have shown concrete interest in his services and are believed to be monitoring the situation closely, Sumaial is apparently close to joining the Kumasi giants.

The highly-rated defender is seen as a replacement for Awal Mohammed who has joined South African side Mamelodi Sundowns.

The club is keen to fortify their squad ahead of their title defence and closing in on  deals with strikers Ransford Osei and Eric Bekoe.
