Asante Kotoko have made a latest payment of $13,000 to German coach Hans Dieter-Schmidt.

The amount is part of a series of payments being made by the Kumasi-based club to defray a whooping  â‚¬99,000 debt owed the 64-year-old.

The debt was incurred by Kotoko after FIFA ruled Schmidt’s dismissal in 2005 was illegal.

The fresh payment adds to the initial $57,000 paid last month – meaning about $58,626.58 remains outstanding.

“I can confirm we made the $13000 payment to Schmidt over the weekend,” Kotoko’s spokesman Listowell Bukarson told GHANAsoccernet.com.

“We want to thank our fans and sympathizers for their contributions and urge them to continue making donations to the club for it is not yet all over.”

Kotoko also have a €30,000 and a $6,500 debt to service over breaches in transfer dealings in the sale of Shilla Illiasu and Adamu Mohammed respectively.
