Kotoko players unanimously kicked against the return of midfielder Yahaya Mohammed, the club’s interim spokesman Ali Maradona has revealed.

Mohammed was released last week to bring the curtain down on a long tussle between the two parties.

The former Amidaus Professionals loanee was suspended by the club after he signed pre-contract agreement with Libyan side Al Ittihad without the club’s consent.

The Porcupine Warriors feel bitter after letting him go without getting a dime from his transfer.

The CHAN star had consistently spoken about his desire to return to the club without success but the club’s acting spokesman Ali Maradona has revealed the players ganged up against him.

“The players didn’t want him (Yahaya Mohammed) to come back. They wrote a letter to the board warning them about the consequences,” he told Peace Power Sports

“They (players) threatened not to play if he was brought back to the team.

“He disrespected everybody at the club including his colleagues and that’s why the board decided to let him go.”

Mohammed has been farmed out on a one-year loan to Egyptian side Al Ittihad.
