Kotoko set to start $180,000 academy construction

Asante Kotoko are set to begin construction of a hostel facility for their  juvenile academy at a cost of $180,000.

The champions will start the project with a $100,000 grant received from DR Congo giants TP Mazembe.

Kotoko have agreed to sell their midfielder Daniel Nii Adjei to the former African champions but the money received for the academy is not part of the transfer fee agreed upon as explained by Administrative Manager Ben Nti.

“TP (Mazembe) has helped us out with $100,000. This is not part of the Nii Adjei transfer fee,” he told Kumasi-based Angel FM.

“We are looking to start work with the $100,000 on the Fabulous Academy by next week.

“We plan to build a 20-room hostel facility at an estimated cost of $180,000. We now have $100,000 which will be used to start the project and in due course we will find the additional $80,000 to complete it.”

Kotoko will be making a return to African club competition in the next edition of the CAF Champions League following their domestic league success last term.
