Asante Kotoko are set to outdoor their newly designed jerseys for the upcoming season.

The new move according to the club’s Executive Board Chairman Dr Kofi Kodua Sarpong is meant to improve the brand of the Premier League Champions.

"Our players are stars, they are our heroes and so they must always be seen clean and well kitted,” Dr Sarpong told the Kotoko Express.

“Until we get a kit sponsor to take up that responsibility, management is taking up the duty to fully invest in kitting of the club,”

"We have been spending huge sums of money to purchase the kits being used, and we are going to even spend more to ensure that the team gets the best apparel to wear at all times,”

“We have decided to emulate what is done in Europe and other places where football is taken seriously, we shall change the design of our jersey every season,”

“Therefore, the jersey design we shall be presenting for the 2012/13 season will be different from what you saw of us in the last season,”

He added: "For home, we will maintain the dominant Red. Our away colour for this season will however reflect our pride and tradition. We shall therefore wear a golden yellow shirt over black shorts with green numbering,”

“I believe that is one of the best honours we can make to the image and colours of the owner of the club, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.”

Kotoko will start pre-season on August 12 at the Ghanaman Centre of Excellence at Prampram
