Asante Kotoko striker Ben Acheampong is at a loss at why his prospective move to Helsingborg fell through.

The 21-year-old proceeded on a three-week trial with the Swedish side after which he took a mandatory club medical.

Acheampong was however not offered a contract at the end of his stay in Sweden and has since returned to Ghana.

The chronological chain of events in Sweden suggests Helsingborg were unable to meet Kotoko’s financial demands of the player who himself seems to be in a limbo over the botched move.

“I don’t think a player will play a match and have a medical if a team indeed is not interested in signing you,” the Ghana international told GHANAsoccernet.com.

“What I know is that everything went well in Sweden and that the Sporting Director (Jesper Jansson) of Helsingborg was in discussions with K.K Sarpong (Kotoko chairman).

“All they told me was that they will get back to me and that is that so am back in Ghana.”

The agile striker however says he will be joining his Kotoko teammates in camp to keep up his fitness with knowledge of other prospective moves lingering.

“Right now I will go back to Kotoko to train because I cannot stay idle,” he adds.

“I have been made aware of other deals but for now my focus will be on to get back to full scale training and we will see what happens in the end.”
