Kotoko to decide on coach Mariano Barreto's future ahead of new season- CEO Nana Yaw Amponsah

Chief Executive Officer of Asante Kotoko, Nana Yaw Amponsah, has disclosed that management and board of the club are discussing the future of coach Mariano Barreto.

The Portuguese coach is currently in his native, Portugal, and should be arriving in the country in the coming days to begin pre-season with the Porcupine Warriors.

However, talks about his future is on going after making some unpleasant remarks about the club before his departure, leaving the top hierarchy of Kotoko unhappy.

"Management and the board are discussing whether the coach should stay or not," Nana Yaw Amponsah told Nana Aba Anamoah on Starr FM's Starr chat show.

Before leaving Ghana, the former Ghana coach said Kotoko was just big in name and lacked facilities to be a modern club.

“I know Asante Kotoko fans won’t be happy with this but I must say it, Asante Kotoko is only a big name and not a not a big team because they lack so many things a big team should be having," Baretto said on Nhyira FM.

“A big team should be having their own physiotherapy room, a strong youth team, philosophy, video room amongst other infrastructure and Kotoko lack all these.”

The Porcupine Warriors will begin preparations ahead of next season in the coming days.
