Kotoko to hire Abubakar as assistant coach, exposes plans to sack Korak

Yusif Abubakar claims he is close to signing for Asante Kotoko as assistant coach, putting the future of head coach Bogdan Korak in doubt.

He will deputize for ex-Kotoko striker Maxwell Konadu who was brought in to assistant to the Serb last month.

Abubakar is yet to be put-to-paper to a deal but his comments seem to have exposed Kotoko officials who have been evasive on Korak's future.

"I was asked to come and help Maxwell Konadu and they may also bring a Whiteman or a technical director," the former Hearts of Oak coach told Accra-based Joy FM.

"One thing about me is that I don’t look at the position I'm going to work but I look at the contribution that I'm going to add and what I'm also going to gain and exhibit."

Korak joined Kotoko in November last year and helped lift the club from 14th place to a third place finish.
