Asante Kotoko are hoping to complete the signing of Richard Mpong on Friday's  transfer day deadline.

The promising Medeama winger has returned to the country after he failed to tie down a deal with Czech side FK Dukhla Prague.

Talks between Kotoko and the Tarkwa-based side have reached an advanced stage with the deal likely to happen before today's  transfer deadline.

GHANAsoccernet.com understands that some contractural disagreements have prolonged the deal but Kotoko are keen on pushing the it through.

Medeama are also willing to do business and cash in on the player who excelled heavily for the Mauves and Yellows last term.

Mpong, considered as one of the rising stars in the country has not hidden his desire to play for the Porcupine Warriors.

He has one-year left on his existing contract.

The 21-year-old was a member of the Ghana Under-17 team who finished fourth at the 2007 FIFA World Cup in Korea.

He played a key role in the Ghana Under-23 side who won gold at the 2011 All Africa Games in Maputo, Mozambique.
