Kotoko have turned down an invitation to play in an international tournament in India.

The Porcupine Warriors have been handed the invitation to participate in the prestigious Rovers Cup in the Asian country.

But officials of the Kumasi-based club have turned down the offer arguing it will disrupt their pre-season plans.

“We decided that the competition in India will not fit into the club’s pre-season program and have instructed our International Relations Consultant to write to the organizers communicating our happiness with the invitation and recognition," Public and Supporters Relations Manager, Listowell Yesu Bukarson told the Kotoko Express.

"But we cannot make it to the tournament because of our pre season program."

The Rovers Cup of the second oldest tournament in India and expected to run frm August 28 to September 12, 2012.

This is the second time that the Porcupine Warriors have been invited to participate in an international tournament.

They were initially billed to play in a four- club tournament in South Africa where they were expected to play against English giants Manchester United but their involvement was however disrupted.
