Asante Kotoko will open their Premier League title defence on Sunday without their substantive head coach Mas-Ud Didi Dramani.

The champions host newly promoted Amidaus Professionals at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi.

Kotoko appointed Dramani as the substantive replacement for coach Maxwell Konadu who left the post at the end of last season to take his new job as the assistant coach of the Ghana national team.

Dramani has however had little working time with the Kumasi-based club due to his engagement with the Ghana women's U-17 team (Black Maidens).

The girls' impressive run to the semi finals of the ongoing FIFA Women's U-17 World Cup in Azerbaijan means Dramani's absence with the Kotoko team is further extended at least until after the Premier League opener.

In his absence, Kotoko's assistant coach Henry Wellington will take charge of Sunday's league opener against Amidaus.

Wellington was at the helm when the Porcupine Warriors pipped New Edubiase in last weekend's Super Cup clash in Accra.
