Kotoko's Nii Adjei wins Ghana Premier League Best Player Award

Published on: 16 June 2012

Asante Kotoko's Daniel Nii Adjei was adjudged the Ghana Premier League Most Valuable Player on Saturday for the just ended 2011/2012 season.

The midfielder stunned the season's top scorer Emmanuel Baffour who was highly tipped to win a double on the night.

Also in contention for the prestigious award was Berekum Chelsea's leading striker Emmanuel Clottey.

Adjei, playing in his sixth season at the club, played a key role in Kotoko's title winning campaign.

The former Power FC player earned cash reward of US$ 2,500 (5,000 Ghana cedis).

Adjei's rival Baffour was confirmed Goal King for the 2011/2012 season after raking in 21 goals although he could not equal Ishmael Addo's 11-year-old record of 22 goals.

The 23-year-old pocketed US$ 2,500 (5,000 Ghana cedis) for the Golden Shoe Award.

He is on the verge of signing for South African Premier League Soccer side Mamelodi Sundowns who have reached an agreement with his local club.
