Kudus Mohammed joining Ajax is the right decision – CK Akonnor

Black Stars coach Charles Akonnor has hailed Kudus Mohammed's move to Ajax, claiming the youngster made the right decision.

The talented attacking midfielder completed his 9 million euros move to the Dutch champions from Danish side FC Nordsjælland last week.

He snubbed interest from clubs in major European leagues such as Liverpool, Everton, Newcastle United, Tottenham Hotspurs and Dortmund to sign for Ajax.

Kudus took into consideration regular playing time in taking the decision.

In an interview with Graphic Sports, Akonnor lauded Kudus for deciding to commit his future to Ajax.

“It's a necessary move he made. It would have been wrong if he moved to England now because he needs to choose a club where he will get enough playing time”, the former Hearts of Oak tactician said.

He added, "Once he is fully matured the English teams would come chasing him so I think it’s good he moved to Ajax where he will be playing more regularly”.

The 19-year-old will begin the new chapter of his career when the Ajax players regroup for pre-season in the next few weeks.
