French Ligue 1 outfit Dijon have completed the signing of Ghana international Bernard Kumordzi.

The 26-year-old agreed a three-and-a-half-year contract last month after passing a medical but his move was ratified on New Year's Day.

Kumordzi arrives at the Stade Gaston Gerard from Greek side Panionios.

Dijon technical director Patrice Carteron said the player was recommended by Ghana ace Michael Essien

"I spoke to Michael Essien at length and he told me about the qualities of the player. His services will be greatly needed for our campaign," he said.

The offensive and defensive midfielder started his professional career in Sweden before moving to Greece in 2006.

He first played for Egaleo and then just after a year, he moved to Panionios where he made over 100 appearances.

Kumordzi was a member of Ghana's team which won silver at the 2010 Africa Cup of Nations in Angola.
