Kwadwo Asamoah & three others excluded from Ghana squad for AFCON double header

Ghana coach Kwesi Appiah has axed four players from the squad for the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations double header against South Africa and São Tomé and Principe.

According to media reports, Newcastle United wideman Christian Atsu has excuses himself from the squad due to injury.

Kumasi-based radio station Oyerepa FM has also reported that the side’s general captain Asamoah Gyan, Kwadwo Asamoah and John Boye have been excluded from the squad to face South Africa and São Tomé and Principe.

The quartet were part of Ghana’s squad that exited the 2019 AFCON in the quarter final stage after shootout defeat against Tunisia.

Coach Appiah’s charges will start their 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers campaign with the Bafana Bafana of South Africa at the Cape Coast Sports Stadium on November 14.

Ghana will enplane to face São Tomé and Principle in their Group C second game on November 17th.
