Kwesi Nyantakyi set to start new Caf work today

Ghana FA boss Kwesi Nyantakyi will start work as a member of the Caf Executive Committee on Thursday, just one day after winning the seat.

Nyantakyi will join president Issa Hayatou and other new members of the executive committte in Sudan for their first meeting.

They are expected to discuss the uprising in Libya which has put next month's Africa Youth Championship in the country in doubt.

They will consider alternative venue for the tournament to ensure that the competition takes place in time for Africa's four representatives at the U20 World Cup are known.

The Caf Executive Committee will also consider its arguments to Fifa to maintain  or increase Africa's five places at the 2014 World Cup.

Fifa will be meet next week to discuss how many World Cup places should be allocated to each confederation for the tournament in Brazil.

Continental confederations have been jockeying for position ahead of the decision on the 31 available places, with Brazil qualifying as hosts.

Africa had six teams at the 2010 World Cup finals but may lose a slot after only Ghana reached the second round.

The Ghana FA president defeated Anjorin Moucharafou of Benin in Khartoum on Wednesday to win a the West Africa B slot on the body.
