LA make it three in a row

LAFC continue to set the pace atop the Western Conference following a 2-0 victory over FC Dallas at the Banc of California Stadium in Los Angeles.

Carlos Vela and Diego Rossi were on target for the hosts as LAFC stretched their lead over the Seattle Sounders to five points in the standings, although LAFC have played one more game than their rivals. Eduard Atuesta found Vela with a sweet throughball to open the scoring as LAFC, 3/1 to win the MLS Cup, moved the ball well just outside the box before the Mexican forward finished smartly. Rossi added a second after a video review in the second half.

These two teams are back in action on Sunday when they meet at the Toyota Stadium in Frisco as fifth-placed Dallas attempt to gain some ground on the Sounders, the LA Galaxy and the Houston Dynamo ahead of them in the Western Conference standings.

Seattle have a tough match-up on Saturday as they travel to Philadelphia to take on the Union, who are in second place in the Eastern Conference. The Sounders are undefeated in their last five outings although three have been draws. The Houston Dynamo have a home game, but face the challenge of Wayne Rooney and DC United, who currently top the Eastern Conference by a point over Philadelphia.

Meanwhile, the Galaxy will fancy their chances against a Colorado Rapids side that are winless in 11 matches and sit firmly in the cellar in the Western Conference.
