Lack of funds at Lierse SK pushing players out- Rahim Ayew a victim
Rahim Ayew will not sign a new deal at SK Lierse.

SK Lierse's failure to make timely payments to players is the reason some stars including Rahim Ayew is leaving the club, MTNFootball.com investigations have revealed.

The Belgian club are in deep financial stress and are currently facing several legal suites over defaulted payment to players and staff.

"The club is not in a good financial standing and are currently saddled with several legal suites," a club source revealed to MTNFootball.com.

"The former Chief Executive for instance has taken the club to court over outstanding payments to be made to him by the club."

Lierse announced on Thursday they will not be renewing the contracts of trio; Hussien Yasser, Soufiane Bidaoui and Rahim Ayew as their contract expire in June.

The Ghana international has been one of the best players for Lierse this season – playing a total of 23 games – 18 league matches and three Cup games.

His imminent exit therefore raised the suspicion something definitely might have gone wrong.

The source now confirms the departure of the trio is necessitated by the lack of funds to retain their services at the club.

"The announcement to release the players was a move to keep the true situation away from the fans," the source continued.

"The management don't want to find themselves at the wrong side of the fans.

"The truth of the matter is that several players are owed wages running into months. There is virtually no money to run the club."
