Laos get on the board in KL 2017 SEA Games men’s football

Published on: 21 August 2017

Kuala Lumpur: Laos picked up their first win and three points in the Kuala Lumpur 2017 SEA Games men’s football after a 3-0 win over Brunei Darussalam at the UM Arena Stadium on Monday.

With no chance of reaching  the semi-finals, both sides were fighting for pride and avoiding last place in Group A.

All eyes were on Zulkhairy Hady Razali - who scored a goal against hosts Malaysia in their opener - to put Brunei in the lead, but Laos did well in denying their ASEAN counterparts with a strong defence.

After a goalless first-half, Laos returned looking to make a difference and succeeded when they opened the scoring in the 64th minute.

It was just the beginning for Laos, doubling their advantage eight minutes later, before ending proceedings with another goal four minutes before time.

Malaysia will play Myanmar later on Monday.
