Ghanaian forward Kwadwo Poku powered Miami FC to a 3-2 victory over Atlanta United in the U.S Open Cup at the Riccardo Silva Stadium.

Atlanta opened the scoring in the 35th minute through Brandon Vazquez, but Miami responded two minutes later on a goal by Stephano Pinho.

The NASL side took the lead in the 52nd minute on a header off a free kick by Rihett Bernstein.

Atlanta restored parity in the 75th minute through Julian Gressel’s penalty after Ghanaian striker Kwadwo Poku was adjudged to have handled the ball in the box.

But as the game looked to be heading to extra time, Kwadwo Poku redeemed himself with a 93rd minute winner to help the side advance to the quarter finals where they meet Cincinnati on July 12.
