Lautaro hailed as 'the next Aguero' by Argentina legend Crespo

Lautaro Martinez could be the 'new Sergio Aguero' according to Argentine football legend Hernan Crespo.

The Inter Milan striker has been in deadly form this year and speculation has ramped up on a possible summer move to Barcelona.

His exploits in the Serie A has put him high up in the attentions of several top European sides, and Crespo is not surprised to see his fellow countryman generating so much interest.

He told Sky Sports Italia: 'Lautaro could well be the new Sergio Aguero. He's not as sharp in his dribbling, but he is more of a team player than Kun, who often gets distracted and looks disinterested.

'Lautaro is always participating in the move, so he can play as a lone centre-forward or with another striker like Romelu Lukaku, even in a trident. I really like his mentality.'

Comparisons to Aguero is extremely high praise, as the Manchester City frontman has been one of the most feared strikers in world football for the past decade.

Since moving to the Premier League in the summer of 2011, he has scored 254 goals in 368 appearances for City and has climbed into the top five scorers in Premier League history.

Martinez has broken into the international fold after an impressive two years at the San Siro since joining in the summer of 2018.

This season the 22-year-old has formed a lethal partnership with Lukaku and has scored 16 goals in 31 appearances.

Barcelona have reportedly made Martinez their top target and are willing to offer him a contract worth £9m a year as they attempt to bring him to the Nou Camp.

The Catalan club hope to bring the youngster in to add depth to their front line which has been hampered by injuries this year to Luis Suarez and Ousmane Dembele.
