Lawyer of Lazio president denies investigation

Despite reports claiming that Claudio Lotito, among others, is under investigation for tax evasion, the Lazio president’s lawyer has dismissed the claims.

The Naples public prosecutor has reportedly opened an investigation into 64 people in Italian football and 35 clubs, with regard to allegations of tax evasion and false invoicing.

“I have spoken with Claudio,” Gian Michele Gentile said, as reported by ANSA. “He has received no notice of anything.”

“He learned of everything from today’s news.

“The news can’t have been invented, but Claudio has received no notification. If a search warrant had been issued then Claudio would have informed me.”

Along with Lotito, AC Milan‘s Adriano Galliani and Napoli‘s Aurelio De Laurentiis were also reportedly being looked into.

Milan released a statement earlier acknowledging the investigation was taking place but condemned the allegations linking Galliani with any involvement.
