Serie A side Lazio are reportedly considering a move to bring the 32-year-old striker Robin van Persie to the Stadio Olimpico during the summer transfer window.

The Biancocelesti sporting director Igli Tare reportedly met with van Persie’s entourage during the squad’s visit to Istanbul for the Europa League fixture against Galatasaray.

According to Il Corriere dello Sport, the Dutch Fenerbahce striker expressed his desire to leave the Turkish league and move back to a more competitive championship.

Lazio are considering the former Arsenal and Manchester United forward as a summer replacement for Miroslav Klose, who is said to be on the way out of the club.

The 32-year-old Dutch striker is being considered for his international experience, but some problems may arise due to his high salary.

Van Persie has accumulated 21 appearances in the Super Lig with Fenerbahce this season, scoring nine goals although he has struggled to cement a first team spot and he has been publicly criticised by coach Vitor Pereira.
