Lazio are interested in signing Werder Bremen defender Jannik Vestergaard.

The 23-year-old Danish international central defender has been an integral part of Die Werderaner’s success this season and has attracted the attention of the Capital club with some commanding displays at the heart of their defence.

According to TuttoMercatoWeb, the former Hoffenheim man is on the Biancocelesti’s radar with sporting director Igli Tare and coach Stefano Pioli both interested in acquiring his services. Lazio are eyeing the Dane as a replacement for the injured Stefan de Vrij, who is currently nursing a long term knee problem.

Vestergaard joined Werder Bremen last January from fellow Bundesliga side Hoffenheim for a fee in the region of â‚¬2.5 million. The Copenhagen born defender is also a reported target of Premier League duo Everton and Newcastle.
