Leaders Berekum Chelsea step up gears, Kotoko thrash Aduana

Berekum Chelsea gave their league title campaign a shot in the arm after posting a 1-0 win at home over second-place Medeama Sporting Club in a match which saw three players being sent off.

The win means Chelsea have opened a 13 point lead at the top with nine matches for the season.

Bismark Idan was picked out by Emmanuel Banahene's cross and the former connected home to beat goalkeeper Mozart Adjetey in the 74th minute.

On 80 minutes, Medeama's Otoo Acheampong was sent off for handling a ball inside the box but Banahene's spot kick was saved by goalie Adjetey.

In stoppage time, Chelsea's Obed Owusu retaliated a head-butt from Hans Koufie and both players were marched off.

Asante Kotoko moved to fourth-place after upsetting ten-man champions Aduana Stars 3-0 at the Baba Yara Stadium.

Frank Boateng opened the scoring in the first half and Daniel Nii Adjei added the second after the break and substitute Stephen Oduro seal the win.

Mighty Jets were undone by King Faisal in a 1-0 reverse in their first league match at the Akosombo Park.

Abdul Wahab's first half goal ensured Jets remained stuck in the relegation zone.
