Legon Cities Asamoah Gyan has admitted to not being ready for the new Ghana Premier League season after almost a year without competitive football.

The 34-year-old last played a competitive match in December 2019. He played 53 minutes for Indian top-flight side NorthEast United in their 1-1 stalemate against Bengaluru FC.

Since then, he recovered from an unknown injury and started playing Tennis.

He started serious training recently after signing a mouthwatering deal with the Accra-based club.

Ahead of the club’s opening match of the season against Berekum Chelsea, Gyan has ruled himself out of action indefinitely

“To be honest, I am not ready, I am not fully fit to play [competitive game],” Asamoah Gyan is quoted to have told TV3

“I think I will need time, am trying to put myself back to shape, you know is being a long time I played, I have been off the pitch for a long time.

“But am still working hard and hopefully, I will be able to get myself ready as time goes on,” Gyan added.
