Lesotho assistant coach explains Ghana mauling

Lesotho assistant coach Lehlohonolo Thotanyana says his team paid for their poor tactical approach against Ghana in the 2014 World Cup qualifier.

The Crocodiles suffered a 7-0 mauling at the Baba Yara Stadium on Friday night in their opening Group D match.

''Ghana is a very good team and we didn't cope with many aspects of the game and they punished us," Thotanyana said in a post match interview.

"In defence and attack we didn't pose any threat to them. We tried to defend earlier in the game but we cracked and they scored goals.''

Lesotho had planned to put up a defensive display but that was neutralized by a marauding Black Stars.

''We tried to defend early on but it wasn’t working and so we had to change tactics. As you saw, even after the match resumed after the halt, we were more comfortable on the ball.''
